Annual Report    
 

Our institution belives that, it is highly essential to inculcate social awareness, nationalism, and the spirit of sportsmanship among all the students while best standards in fulfillment of their academic pursuits. This is the annual report of all the activities conducted in the college for the academic year 2008-09.

The student’s association was constituted for the year 2008-09 under the chairmanship of our Principal, Professor. Chandramma, and co-odinated by our lecturers Prof.Bhavani, Smt. Rani Sandhu and Smt. Mamatha.

Elections were conducted for the year 2008-09 to elect the office bearers to the student’s Cultural, Literary and Sports association. Class and sports representatives were elected for respective classes on the same day.

On 1st august, a TQM orientation programme was conducted for first year B.COM students. Talents exhibition was conducted on 12th, 13th and 14th of august 2008. The student’s cultural literary and sports association was inaugurated on 28th august 2008. Sri.Aravind Limbavali, Hon. Minister of higher Education, Govt., of Karnataka was the chief guest, Dr. C.N. Ashwatha Narayan, MLA, Malleshwaram Constituency was the special guest and Smt. Mangala Ramachandra, Hon. Secretary of MLA was the president of the function. A workshop on team building was conducted for III year b.com students on 24th October 2008. Inter class competitions were conducted on 6th, 7th, 10th and 11th of October 2009. A three day excursion was organized by the college for final year students in the month of December 2008 to Udupi.

A two day UGC sponsored State Level Seminar on “Empowerment of Women – Challenges ahead” was organized on 13th and 14th of February 2009. Dr. Gokilvani Srinivasan inaugurated the seminar. The Valedictory address, benefiting the programme was presented by Smt. Shobha Karandlaje, Honourable Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Govt., of Karnataka. Smt Mangala Ramachandra, Hon. Secretary, MLA presided over the function.

The inter class cultural fest “UTSAV 2009” was inaugurated by Prof. Chandramma, Principal, MLAFGCW on 24th February 2009. ‘SOWRABHA’, the inter-collegiate fest was organized on 28th March 2009 which was inaugurated by Smt. Mangala Ramachandra, Hon. Secretary, MLA in which nearly 25 colleges participated and the Valedictory function was held on the same day and the students of Vivekananda College won the Rolling shield.

The various forums and the clubs of our college organized many activities to bring out the creativity and the talents in our students. The commerce forum conducted many activities and competitions like Product Launch, Collage, Commerce model etc., and the commerce exhibition was held on 4th April 2009.On the other hand the Sanskrit and Hindi forum also conducted many inter-class competitions like essay writing, debate etc., from 16th March 2009 to 27th March 2009. Ethnic day was celebrated on 15th April 2009 and Kum. Ashwini was crowned as Miss MLA for the year. Our students won many prizes by participating in various inter- collegiate competitions including the RASA FEST conducted by ISKON.

Students of our college participated in BANGALORE UNIVERSITY YOUTH COMPETITIONS. They also participated in other colleges fests, State level competition in the month of February 2009in Sri Ramayan Darshanam, Kavya Vachana Spardhe conducted by Kanakpura Rural College and won a rolling shield for the college.

During the year various certification programmes in TALL, English Speaking and Communication Skills and Personality Development, were conducted for III, II & I B.Com students., respectively. The Valedictory function was held on 13th May 2009 marking the closure of all the activities of the year 2008-09. Dr. Narpat Solanki was the chief guest on the occasion and Smt. Mangala Ramachandra was the president of the function.

“Deepadharnothsava”, an occasion which includes handling over the lamp of knowledge, culture and glory of the college by the senior students to the junior students and release of the magazines “KRUTHI” was held on 16th MAY 2009. The chief guest for the function was Prof. Chandreshekar and Smt. Mangala Ramachandra was the president of the function. We belive that, the activities of the various forums and committees have helped in the over all development of the student’s talents and skill sets to meet the challenges of life. The successful conduct of the activities would not have been possible without the able support and guidance of our principal, Prof. Chandramma, our in charge lecturers Prof. Bhavani.H , Rani Sandhu and Kum. Mamatha M and all the teaching and non teaching staff.
